The Stallion The Rhineland stallion Dekor was imported into the United States directly from the world famous Vornholz Stud in Germany. His owner Marlene stood him at stud with various trainers throughout his career including time at the Los Alamos Dressage Center, Robert Meyer's farm in Pittsburgh, PA and here at Watermark Farm from 1982 to 1987. At the time of his importation, he was referred to as a Triple Licensed stallion - he had been approved for breeding in Hanover, Rhineland and Westphalian breeding districts. In his home country Dekor left behind a total of 80 foals who had competition success from the lower levels through Advanced classes. Four of his offspring were winners in the S level show jumpers and one went on to the S levels in Dressage. The dual talent of his get continued to be proven here in the United States with numerous successful competitors to his credit. Dekor was trained as an advanced dressage horse and competed very successfully with both professional riders and his amateur owner. In Germany, he had successfully hunted as a Staff Horse and successfully passed his cart licensing. His skill as a show jumper is a foregone conclusion with Ramses as his maternal Grandsire and Duellant for his paternal Grandsire. Dekor was a delightful stallion both undersaddle and on the ground. His clearly stamped features and intelligence quickly made him a barn favorite. Dekor's offspring were uniformly stamped with his gorgeous head, high level of intelligence and above average jumping ability. These young horses were easy to train, comfortable to ride and very people oriented in temperament. With their features being strongly influenced by Ramses, they were easy to market and sell to riders of all levels of talent. In 1980 his son Kirkebecker was Grand Champion at Dressage At Devon's Breed Show. His son out of Today I'm Trying, Dynamite, was a huge success in the hunter breeding classes as a yearling - finishing the season as number 3 in the PA Bred rankings. Dynamite was later sold to to an adult amateur and had very good success in the Modified Jumpers in Wellington, FL in the 1990's. Dynasty went on to a successful career as a broodmare after garnering high praise in the jumper arena. Double Bounce campaigned as a Preliminary eventer, Grand Prix dressage and had loads of wins in the showjumping arena with Ellie as a junior rider. She and Da Vinci enjoyed many fine days out in the hunt field with Andrew's Bridge Hunt. His son Dekorum (x Villa May) was licensed for breeding in Canada. Dekor's genetics continue onward in our breeding program through his daughter Dynasty WF (x Today I'm Trying). Her son Avebury WF was licensed for breeding in 2004 and consistently improves upon his mares. His full sister Alexis Carrington WF will join our broodmare band in 2010. Grandson Aloysius WF (Avebury WF x Amelia WF) was Site Reserve Champion in the summer of 2009 while receiving an overall score of 8.8 and a Premier Award. |
