April Moon & About Dun

The Filly

April Moon (“Luna” as she is known around the barn) is a sweet filly with one of the most gentle temperaments that we have seen in a horse. She is relaxed and fairly unflappable when other horses are excited. Her grounded nature and overt sweetness make her a farm favorite.

Luna’s Thoroughbred dam Hope is by the eventing sire Babamist and she is out of Jacmel by If Only. Hope had a good career as a riding horse before joining her breeder’s broodmare band. Luna is her second foal with big sister Whistfull (by Waldaire) already enjoying great success in the local hunters as a 3 year old. Hope’s full sister is an active competitor in a large A show barn in the Baltimore area.

Luna’s conformation is correct. She has good bone and is still a feminine, elegant miss. From the tips of her curly ears to the bottom of her lush tail, this filly screams A Show Hunter.

At her foal inspection, she received a First Premium Award.

June 2013 Lucinda Green Clinic

Luna has a new owner and you can check out their style together in the above video!! Here's what Kerri H. had to say -
"April Moon at Lucinda Green clinic at FHI last week. What a magically mare, by Avebury WF! This was her first time going xc, and she was amazing! Leading horses over ditches, through water, and up and down the banks... Looking forward to her future, and want another!" ~KH

The Colt

About Dun or “Dunnie” is out of one of his owner’s most treasured foxhunting horse, Susuehannah. She has been the most reliable, steadiest horse in the hunt field whether she is leading the field or working as a whip’s horse. Her manners are impeccable and she is joy to ride either alone or with the group. Susquehannah is by the successful eventing sire Babamist and she is out of a ranch bred Quarter Horse mare that was a wedding gift to her breeder.

At Dunnie’s foal inspection he was quite butt-high and still achieved a Premium Award. He is a cooperative colt and currently is developing nicely. He should mature to well over 16.1 hands and is a most unusual shade of red dun.

His movement is above average with excellent engagement of the hindquarters and good use of the foreleg. Dunnie’s overall conformation is correct with good proportions and a well set on neck. His shoulder is long and with correct angle.
