The Mare

Alice was purchased as a three turning four year old by Emily. They had a wonderful competition career in the hunter jumpers with Alice winning several championships including a large prize at the Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show in the Jumpers. While Alice was in residence here at Watermark Farm, she proved to be a quick study for dressage training and was soon schooling Second and Third Level.

As with any horse that has a second career away from the racetrack, Alice’s personality was very accepting and generous when she was asked in a tactful manner to perform a new task. She was always delightful to work around and an excellent mother.

From time to time, we made the decision to breed her to our stallions and have been very pleased with the results. Her Again and Again son Artesian WF (1996) is currently schooling Grand Prix, having already achieved good results at Intermediare I. His full sister Amelia WF (2002) continues to produce excellent sport horse and breeding prospects. Adelaide WF (2004) by Adamant was purchased by K.R. in 2008 and has had much success in prestigious Dressage At Devon Breed Show venue both in hand and undersaddle. Wallace WF (2005) by Waldaire is quickly proving to be a delight to compete and train.

In the spring of 2006, Alice found a new home with Barbara MacKnew of MD. Her second Waldaire foal was born a few weeks later and has already begun his undersaddle training. Willow LG is quite busy making his young owner Jessy very proud!

Alice’s genetics continue onward in our breeding program through her daughter Amelia WF. Her son Aloysius WF (by Avebury WF) received the coveted Premier Award with a score of 8.8 at his foal inspection and high praise as a stallion prospect. Her two daughters by Waldaire, Wylie WF (2006) and Wichita Rose WF (2007), are currently in residence.
